What is the time out policy?
- The Time Out Policy has three stages:
- 1st Stage – Idle Time out – 30 minutes
- At this stage, if you stepped away from your computer and did nothing, the Workspot session will close and go into a Disconnected state.
- Any time you click “Disconnect” the 2nd Stage timer will start, skipping the 1st Stage.
- 2nd Stage – Sleep after Disconnect – 120 minutes
- At this stage, if you have not signed back in to Workspot during these 2 hours, the Workspot session will sign you out completely and go into sleep mode.
- 3rd Stage – Sleep - Machine is powered off on the back end
- When you return to the computer after the 3rd Stage has completed, it may take an additional minute or two to start and will be as if the computer has rebooted.
Why do we do this?
- Microsoft and Workspot have developed this feature to enable charges by consumption of hours used, vs 24x7.
- Routinely restarting a system, closing apps and files, is good practice and has many performance benefits (clearing cache, CPU, memory, etc.) that if left open, could build up throughout the week and bog down your system without you even knowing it.
- This regular restart will prevent model corruption, reduce system bugs and increase performance throughout the week.
