If you are on your own assigned My Workspot, you have the flexibility to Sign out, Restart, or Disconnect.
- Signing out will assure you that no applications are left open and unsaved files will get saved. It will disconnect your local computer from Workspot and the virtual machine will go directly to the Sleep state, the 3rd Stage of the time out policy
- Restart will also assure you that no application is left open. If there are any Windows updates, it will be clear they are ready to be run at that time rather than an unexpected reboot mid-day because they were maybe postponed. It is also good for the Operating System and applications because they get a chance to clear any open services that may be hung open. After the Restart happens behind the scenes the virtual machine stays ready and running in the 2nd Stage of the time out policy.
- Disconnect will leave your Workspot on and will remain how you left it for when you reconnect. This is good if you plan to return to your Workspot but please be aware of the time out policy. When a virtual machine is paused (Sleep), it is supposed to close things down nicely, but it doesn’t kick off updates, or necessarily close things out as nicely as a Sign out or Restart does.
Scenario examples:
Done for day, most likely not doing more work that day. Weekend is here! - Sign out
You are done for the day or you see updates are ready – Restart
You know you are getting on later in the day (within 2 hours) to finish something up – Disconnect
